Specimen Requirements

Container Type: Aerobic Culturette (swab)
Specimen Type: Throat and other areas of inflammation. Excluding Vaginal/Perianal.
Collection Procedure: For the Throat (Group A): Swab posterior of pharynx, tonsils or other areas of inflammation with a sterile culturette. Avoid oral mucosa. This is not for Vaginal/Perianal sources on female patients over the age of 12.
Specimen Processing: Store and transport at room temperature.
Stability: Room Temp 48 hours
Unacceptable Condition: Dry swab.
