Specimen Requirements

Container Type: Sterile screw-cap container, culturette or see below.
Specimen Type: Body fluids, aspirates, respiratory secretions and tissues
Collection Procedure: Submit in sterile screw-cap container. Bone marrow should be submitted in a green capped SODIUM Heparin tube.  Corneal scrapings may be directly inoculated onto fungal media obtained from lab or submitted in culturette.
Specimen Processing: Store and transport refrigerated.
Required Patient Info: Specimen source and include pertinent clinical information.
Unacceptable Condition: No tissue samples in formalin. No needles on syringes. No swabs with gel (used to collect anaerobic bacterial specimens)
