Specimen Requirements

Container Type: Swab in transport tube with buffer
Specimen Type: Cervicovaginal swab
Preferred Volume: 1 Specimen Collection Kit
Collection Procedure: Cervicovaginal swab in transport tube with buffer. A special collection kit is required for collection. Specimen must be obtained prior to digital examination. Care must be taken not to contaminate the swab of cervicovaginal secretions with lubricants, soaps, or disinfectants. Seal the tube (align cap with swab and push until it ‘clicks’) to prevent leakage.
Specimen Processing: Transport at refrigerated temperature within 3 days of collection.
Unacceptable Conditions: Cotton swabs and culturettes.

Stability:
