Specimen Requirements
Container Type: Lithium Heparin (Green Top) or Serum Separator (Gold Top)
Specimen Type: Plasma or Serum
Preferred Volume: 1 mL
Emergency Minimum Volume: 0.3 mL
Collection Procedure: Draw just prior to next oral dose. Note times of dose and draw. For maintenance therapy, preferred collection is 2 hours after ingestion of plain, uncoated tablets or liquid, and 4 hours after ingestion of sustained-release products.
Specimen Processing: Separate serum or plasma from cells as soon as possible by centrifugation. Store and transport refrigerated.
Required Patient Info: Note times of dose and draw.
