Collection Procedure: Containers must be free of media and preservatives. For patients requiring diapers, line with clean plastic to prevent absorption. Peak viral counts obtained 3-5 days after onset of symptoms.
Specimen Processing: Refrigerate as soon as possible. Store and transport refrigerated. Freeze if longer than 72 hours.
Stability: Room Temp 2 hrs Refrigerated 3 days Frozen (-20 øC) Indefinitely
Unacceptable Condition: Stool swabs and soiled diapers. Samples in formalin.
