Specimen Requirements
Container Type: Lithium Heparin (Green Top) or Serum Separator (Gold Top)
Specimen Type: Plasma or Serum
Preferred Volume: 2 mL
Emergency Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL
Collection Procedure: Do not use alcohol swabs. Use Betadine or soap and water to disinfect draw site.
Specimen Processing: Separate serum or plasma from cells as soon as possible by centrifugation. Store and transport refrigerated.
Unacceptable Conditions: Grossly Hemolyzed specimens
