Specimen Requirements

Container Type: Sterile container
Specimen Type: Semen, complete collection.
Preferred Volume: Full collection
Patient Prep: DO NOT collect in condom or other container that has formalin.
Collection Procedure: Collect following a period without ejaculation of at least 2 days, preferably 3 days. Collect complete semen specimen in a sterile container. Specimen to be collected by masturbation and placed into the sterile container. No special handling instruction necessary. Deliver to lab at room temperature. Tell the lab the exact time of collection.
Limitations: If sample is received into lab greater than 2 hours after collection and sperm are present, evaluation of motility may be compromised. If motility assessment is desired, please recollect and submit within 2 hours.
