Container Type: Sterile transport swab or sterile container
Specimen Type: Superficial and invasively collected eye specimens
Collection Procedure: Submit suppurative material from lower cul-de-sac or inner canthus or vitreous fluid, collected on sterile transport swab. Swab each eye separately and label appropriately. Submit cornea specimens in a sterile cup with sterile saline on a gauze pad to keep specimen moist
Specimen Processing: Store and transport at room temperature.
